Our guests will be Tom Essex, Treatment Manager, King County Drug Court, and Det, David Doucett, Seattle Police Department Liaison to King County Drug Court. They will discuss this program that provides eligible defendants the opportunity to receive drug treatment in lieu of incarceration.

June 18th, 2013 Meeting

We will review our safety walk of Lincoln Park, offer summer safety tips, discuss the National Night Out which takes place on August 6th and the Southwest Precinct Picnic on August 17th. We don't meet in July and August, our next meeting is on September 17th, 2013.

May 28th-Lincoln Park Safety Walk

Join us for a safety walk of the park with representatives from the Seattle Police and Parks Departments. We will meet off the North parking lot at 7:00pm.

May 21st, 2013 Meeting

Our guest will be burglary detective Jill Vanskike, she will discuss factors that attract burglars to specific homes, the most common points and methods of entry, target hardening and the protective devices that are the most effective at preventing burglaries. Also, tips that can aid in the recovery of stolen property and the use of Craigslist, Ebay, pawn shops, and flea markets in the recovery of stolen items. Next meeting June 18th, 2013. Our safety walk at Lincoln Park will take place on May 28th and begin at 7:00pm, we will meet by the North parking lot. All are welcome at both events.

Our guest will be the Seattle Police Department's dedicated graffiti expert, Detective Christopher Young. He will discuss all aspects of graffiti crimes, including how to identify gang graffiti, the prosecution of graffiti crimes, and how to deter graffiti crimes. All are welcome. We will have Robert Stowers, Parks Resources Manager, Seattle Parks and Recreation to address questions concerning safety and security at park facilities. In addition, Sarah Sorensen, Volunteer Supervisor, Seattle Police Department's Victim Support Team (VST), will discuss the upcoming VST Academy Training Session and how to become a VST volunteer. January 15th Meeting

We will learn about the recent leadership change at the Southwest Precinct. We will welcome Lieutenant Tim Thompson from the Washington State Liquor Control Board to his new assignment in this area. Information on how to deal with chronic criminal problems, using examples that have been successfully applied in West Seattle. Melissa Chin, the Precinct Liaison from the Office of the Seattle City Attorney, will discuss how to deal with these types of chronic problems. We will also discuss plans for upcoming meetings.
