May 21st, 2013 Meeting

Our guest will be burglary detective Jill Vanskike, she will discuss factors that attract burglars to specific homes, the most common points and methods of entry, target hardening and the protective devices that are the most effective at preventing burglaries. Also, tips that can aid in the recovery of stolen property and the use of Craigslist, Ebay, pawn shops, and flea markets in the recovery of stolen items. Next meeting June 18th, 2013. Our safety walk at Lincoln Park will take place on May 28th and begin at 7:00pm, we will meet by the North parking lot. All are welcome at both events.

Our guest will be Detective Clayton Agate from the Seattle Police Gang Unit, Detective Agate will give us a current assessment on gang activity. Our next meeting is on May 21st, 2013. All are welcome.

March 19th, 2013

Our guest will be the Seattle Police Department's dedicated graffiti expert, Detective Christopher Young. He will discuss all aspects of graffiti crimes, including how to identify gang graffiti, the prosecution of graffiti crimes, and how to deter graffiti crimes. All are welcome. Our next meeting is on April 16th, 2013. Join us for a public safety walk in Lincoln Park on June 4th, 2013 at 7:00pm.

February 19th, 2013

We will have Robert Stowers, Parks Resources Manager, Seattle Parks and Recreation to address questions concerning safety and security at park facilities. In addition, Sarah Sorensen, Volunteer Supervisor, Seattle Police Department's Victim Support Team (VST), will discuss the upcoming VST Academy Training Session and how to become a VST volunteer. January 15th Meeting

We will learn about the recent leadership change at the Southwest Precinct. We will welcome Lieutenant Tim Thompson from the Washington State Liquor Control Board to his new assignment in this area. Information on how to deal with chronic criminal problems, using examples that have been successfully applied in West Seattle. Melissa Chin, the Precinct Liaison from the Office of the Seattle City Attorney, will discuss how to deal with these types of chronic problems. We will also discuss plans for upcoming meetings. November 20th, 2012 Meeting

The meeting will focus on how the recent Metro Transit route changes and the creation of a Transit Center in the Westwood Neighborhood have impacted West Seattle. Our guests will include Dale Cummings, Senior Transit Planner-Metro Transit, Mike Bergman, Service Planning Manager, Operations Division-Sound Transit, and Christine Alar, Transit Planning and Policy-SDOT. The meeting starts at 7:00pm and all are welcome.

Our Guest speaker is Ian Goodhew, Deputy Chief of Staff, King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office, Mr. Goodhew will discuss what happens after the police make an arrest, he will also discuss the impact of staff reductions in the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney.
